I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the Obamas will be planting their own organic garden on the White House lawn. This was something that was instigated by several people in the food and nutrition movement, and it really feels like the administration heard the arguments and seriously considered the best way to implement. For those of us who struggle to teach people the value of locally grown food and good nutrition, this feels like a monumental win, and I hope that it serves as an example for the public.
